NHU appoints new coaches

The Namibia Hockey Union (NHU) has announced the appointment of four new national team coaches who will spearhead the development and success of hockey in Namibia across different formats.

These experienced and highly accomplished coaches, according to NHU, have been selected to lead and nurture talented athletes, setting the stage for a bright future for Namibian hockey on both the national and international stages.

The appointed coaches will assume their roles with immediate effect and will serve until July 2026. The newly appointed coaches are indoor hockey men's and women’s coaches Trevor Cormack and Shayne Cormack. The outdoor hockey men's and women’s coaches are Johan Weyhe and Sedtric Makati.

Strong foundation

In a statement, NHU said the coaches possess an unparalleled understanding of the game, "making them ideal mentors for the rising stars of Namibian hockey. Their combined expertise will create a strong foundation for the growth and advancement of the sport in the country.

"The NHU believes that with the new coaching team's guidance and expertise, our national teams will be excellently positioned to compete at the highest level and achieve success in regional and international competitions.’’
