Namibia is gearing up to host the largest and most prestigious squash tournament in its history with the PSA BDO Namibian Open 2024. This landmark event promises to be a thrilling showcase of top-tier talent and a monumental occasion for the country's squash community.Boasting over N$157 590 in prize money for the PSA Division and a total purse of N$200 000 across all divisions, the tournament is set to attract players of all skill levels. Steven Berry, one of the key organizers, expressed his excitement about the impact this event will have on Namibian squash: “We are expecting the highest level of squash ever seen in Namibia, and we invite all players and spectators to come and witness a fantastic week of squash at the highest level.”
The PSA BDO Namibian Open 2024 has already drawn an impressive international line-up. Players from Germany, Egypt, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and other nations, totalling 31 international competitors, will join 60 local players. This diverse field underscores Namibia's growing reputation as a premier destination for high-calibre sports events. Berry highlighted the importance of the event for Namibia’s sports culture: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our facilities, as well as how great our fantastic hospitality is here in Namibia.”
The tournament is supported by major sponsors BDO Namibia and Power Line Africa, whose contributions have been instrumental in bringing such a prestigious event to life.
The action-packed schedule kicks off with PSA matches at 17:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday. The excitement continues with the opening rounds for other divisions starting Thursday morning, culminating in the finals on Saturday afternoon at Wanderers.
