Energy has eyes set on Bonokoane
If anything, fear is not what Fillipus 'Energy' Nghitumbwa feels about his opponent Thato Bonokoane. After a disappointing result in the Philippines on 13 May, Nghitumbwa will face the tough South African for the vacant WBO Africa Super bantamweight title.
This bout - set to take place on Saturday, 2 December, at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort - will be very entertaining since both boxers are power fighters, according to Nestor Tobias, Nghitumbwa’s promoter and trainer from the MTC Nestor Tobias Sunshine Boxing Academy.
It will be a fight full of action and will certainly end in a knock-out, he said.
As it stands, Nghitumbwa has a record of 14 fights, 12 wins and two losses.
Nicknamed 'Captain Charisma', Bonokoane is the current WBF world champion, with a record of 21 fights, 15 wins, five losses and one draw.
“This fight will ensure that Energy gets back to top 15 ranking and gets a chance at a world title. Energy is our flagship and our future world champion and he needs to redeem himself from his loss to John Riel Casimero," Tobias said.
A man of few words, Nghitumbwa said he is ready to step into the ring and show his opponent what he's made of.
