Paarl Boys High show class at United

Paarl Boys High (tournament winners in 2023) made another dominant start on day one of the 2024 edition of the Namibia Youth Rugby Festival hosted at Trustco United field in Olympia.

Seven under-19 schools teams are in action, including four from South Africa.

The Paarl Boys High pedigree shone through during their 49-0 win in the opening match against M&K Gertze (Rehoboth), with the Cape team’s left wing Cole Moultrie named as player of the match.

In match 2, Windhoek High School kept up the local challenge with an exciting 19-14 win against Stellenberg, with WHS tighthead prop Joshua Bester awarded as player of the match.

UXI Western Province Academy then overcame a brave challenge from HTS Windhoek on their way to a 31-5 scoreline.

TODAY’s fixtures: SA Dream Hunters vs UXI Western Province Academy (17:00); M&K Gertze vs Stellenberg (18:30).

THURSDAY: Dawid Bezuidenhout vs SA Dream Hunters (13:00); HTS Windhoek vs Stellenberg (14:30); M&K Gertze vs UXI Western Province Academy (15:50); Windhoek High School vs Paarl Boys High.

Friday is a rest day, with a holiday rugby clinic on offer from 08:30 to 13:00.

The playoffs for final positions on Saturday morning will be the bowl final (5th place), shield final (for third) and cup final.

Entrance tickets are N$20 for school kids and pensioners, N$30 for adults and N$20 for parking.
