Additional backing is needed to cover travel and logistical expenses ahead of the Bala Bala tour.
Auas Motors has once again supported the primary school rugby community, handing over a rugby kit last week to the reigning three-time national champions, the Parkies U13 rugby team. The sponsorship comes ahead of the team’s tour to Bela Bela, South Africa, in April, where it will gain valuable international experience.
Auas Motors, representing the Suzuki brand in Namibia, has been supporting Pioneerspark Primary School’s rugby programme since 2022, along with other school initiatives spanning several years.
‘We will continue to support Parkies’
Auas Motors managing director, Gerhard Vermeulen, said it is a proud moment for the company to be back at Pioneers Park Primary School. “The boys were very excited. It’s a great honour for them to receive the rugby kit.
“We are very excited to see them play this year. We’ve been involved with rugby at Parkies for quite a few years now, and we will continue to support them. We wish them all the best for the league this season,” Vermeulen said.
Parkies U13 rugby tour chairperson Marizel Jacobs said the team has established itself as a breeding ground for exceptional young talent through its successes.
Jacobs indicated that Parkies’ players, many of whom come from humble backgrounds, are highly talented and sought after by various private institutions.
“This is a testament to the level of skill, unwavering dedication and electrifying passion grown and nurtured within our government school system,” she said.
Ensure no player is left behind
The team is calling on corporate entities and individuals to support their journey and ensure that no player is left behind due to financial constraints.
Speaking about the tour to Bela Bela, Jacobs noted that it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the young athletes, adding that it will offer them personal growth and invaluable experience that will shape their character both on and off the field.
“We are calling on corporate entities and individuals to invest in Namibian rugby, as well as in discipline and leadership. Team up with Parkies Rugby to ensure that no child is left behind due to financial constraints. By contributing, you are ultimately investing in the future of the sport and the country’s next generation of talented leaders,” Jacobs said.
Grateful for support
Parkies U13 rugby team parents’ committee member, Stephne Marquard, expressed gratitude for Auas Motors’ support, highlighting them as one of the team’s biggest sponsors to date.
“They’ve taken our hands and truly helped us equip these boys, and we sincerely thank them for that,” she said.
“Although we still have additional needs for the April tour, including transportation and other expenses, we deeply appreciate the support we have received,” Marquard added.
