The Namibia Junior Golf Foundation (NJGF) has announced this year’s national team, consisting of four players.Talented young golfers Kyle Johnson (captain), Connor Gibson, Samuel Nel and JP Johnson (the only newbie) were selected following two high-performance training camps to assess their skill, ability and overall performance.
All four of the selected players, including the Johnson brothers, are registered at Walvis Bay Golf Club. Kyle has represented the senior Namibian men’s team at the African championship held in South Africa in both 2023 and 2024 – excelling with the best individual performance by any of the Namibian team members on both occasions.
The juniors’ first training camp took place at Omeya Golf Course from 22 to 23 February, followed by the second at Rössmund Golf Course outside Swakopmund from 22 to 23 March.
NJGF secretary Jessica van Schalkwyk said the training camp ensured they were able to put together the best team to compete at the annual All-Africa Junior Team Championship in Tunisia from 22 to 27 April, where the golfers will be accompanied by team manager Jaco van Reenen.
“The rising stars have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication and sportsmanship. We have no doubt they will make Namibia proud,” she said.
