Shinyengu and Festus redeemed themselves with a straight-set win over Makanga Len and Chibi Sitengu.
Meanwhile, Tomas Shivute and Messah Kambala delivered an outstanding final showing, registering a 2-0 win over Shinyengu and Festus, as well as Onny Gideon and Vaino Namkomba, before overpowering Immanuel Hafenye and Daniel Weyulu in a 2-1 encounter.
Aloisius Ishitile and Tobias Johannes closed their campaign on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Gideon and Namkomba, who later faced another tough challenge against Len and Sitengu, ultimately losing 2-1.
Speaking to Sport Wrap, men’s section winner Simeon Ndaxula said clinching the overall title after staying at the top of the table throughout the competition was no easy feat. “It feels good. We went undefeated, only dropping one set,” he said.
His partner, Teodor Thomas, added: “I am proud of myself and my partner. My focus is now on the King and Queen of the Court competition, which we are hosting at this venue in April.”
Ndaxula and Thomas clinched the top spot with 35 points, followed by Tomas Shivute and Messah Kambala (33), alongside second runner-up Immanuel Hafenye and Daniel Weyulu (30).
Women’s open results
In the women’s open grand finale, champions Thomas and Amakali sealed their title with a 2-1 win over Lea Nangobe and Angel Ouxurus. Meanwhile, Naemi Amunyela and Helena Itula ended their campaign in style with a straight-set victory over Dorothy Nambahu and Maria Iileka.
Soini Shipefi and Claudia Reiter also wrapped up their season impressively, securing a 2-0 win against Grace Muheua and Himeezembi Nguede.
Women’s section winner Cathrine Thomas expressed excitement over winning the overall title. “Like most of the leagues I have won in the past, the excitement never gets old. I am especially looking forward to the DTS Volleyball for All competition next month and the NVF Bank Windhoek Beach Volleyball Open in Swakopmund in May.”
Her partner, Tuli Amakali, was equally overjoyed about the upcoming competitions. Regarding winning the CVA league, she said: “It was not easy, as we played against young, vibrant players who made us run a lot. But as seniors, we did not give them the satisfaction of besting us.”
Thomas and Amakali clinched the top spot with 24 points, followed by Soini Shipefi and Claudia Reiter (20), alongside third-placed Naemi Amunyela and Helena Itula (19).
