Pienaar hails fit Tigers NC

Gunners maintain dominance
The MTC Namibia Netball Premier League saw Tigers and Mighty Gunners dominating matches in Windhoek and Grootfontein respectively.
Tigers Netball Club proved why they are one of the strongest teams in the country on Saturday after beating Namibia Correctional Services (NCS) and Afrocat Lions Netball Club on the same day.

Tigers first defeated NCS 42-38 before claiming the better of Afrocat Lions with a score of 42-38 in their second match of the day.

Coach Morné Pienaar said the team’s performance was testament to the work they put in on the training ground.

“The girls are fit because they are keeping to their training schedules and that is the advantage we had.

“In the second game, we also had a team talk and assured ourselves that we needed to win this one by pushing forward.

“We also made sure that the girls were well-rested before the last matches and that they had enough shade before the last match,” he said.

Lost focus

On the other hand, Afrocat Lions coach Dimitri Bitler felt that his team did not have enough composure compared to Tigers.

He, however, expressed confidence that the team will bounce back going forward.

“We are in a restricting phase and so this was expected because we have a lot of new players in our team.

“I think we did well, even though we lost a bit of focus from the third and fourth quarter.

“The team will work on it and see how we will fix it in order to bounce back,” Bitler said.

The coach said the matches were lost on small margins and he is therefore not worried about their future prospects.

Mighty Gunners maintained their good form after dominating the northern derbies played at Grootfontein.

Gunners beat Otjozondjupa Netball 58-24 as well as Grootfontein with a score line of 48-24.

Otjozondjupa Nampol also had their fair share of success after beating Grootfontein 48-37.
