Wentzel and Van Wyk take Federation Pairs

The Federation Pairs golf tournament, sponsored by Safety Kit, was held at the Windhoek Golf Club last weekend.This annual event is the only competition that the Namibian Golf Federation hosts during the year.
Ernst Calitz expressed Safety Kit’s pride to have been the sponsor of this event for the 13th consecutive year, and confirmed they will again sponsor the 2026 event.
The competition over 54 holes was played in four formats over the four rounds, namely medal, betterball, foursomes and finally the combined format.
In total 34 teams (two less than last year) participated. No team could win two prizes, therefore the results should be read in that context.
Kevin Wentzel and Douw van Wyk won after posting the best gross score, while Peter Johns and Danie van Schoor won the best nett.

Foursomes beste nett: Sesilia Nkoshi and Bonifatius Paulino (72)
Combined best nett: Gert Liebenberg and Christo Liebenberg (151).
Nearest-to-the-pin with second shot at hole 18: Alfie Ndyenge.
A minute of silence was observed at the prize-giving in respect of the passing of Namibia’s first president, Dr Sam Nujoma.
• This Saturday the club will host the first of six International Pairs qualifiers.
Van Niekerk wins at Walvis Bay
The Walvis Bay Golf Club extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the founding father of the nation, former President Sam Nujoma, on his passing. May his soul rest in peace.
Roco Mama’s were the sponsors last weekend with 34 players turning out for some action.
With the format being nett medal on the first nine holes and straight stableford on the back nine, with the stableford being deducted from the medal score and the lowest score winning, Piet van Niekerk played himself into a new handicap and a winning score of nine points.
The second spot and also a new handicap went to Charles Shayamano on 11 points. Tienie de Wet finished third after winning a count-out on 15 points against Pedro Fernandes. The fifth prize went to Jivino Polster who beat father Mario on a count-out.
Danie van Antwerpen and Chris Fourie won nearest to the pins on holes 2/11 and 18 respectively. WBGC captain Shane Westerdale, thanked Chris Fourie, Callie Rautenbach and Roche Pitout from Roco Mama’s for their sponsorship.
