The Walvis Bay Golf Club’s senior branch hosted its first-ever Inter-branch Seniors Open last week.

The two-day event had a sizeable field of 31 players entered, with visitors from Swakopmund, Henties Bay and Windhoek.

The medal format did not deter the players from good scoring and eventually, local seniors captain Tienie de Wet easily won the overall nett prize on a very good score of 138 points. He was also crowned overall gross winner with 154 (two rounds of 77) and a new handicap.

In second position was John Redman on 143 points, followed by Estelle Bothma on 146.

• The juniors of the Walvis Bay club continue to rule the roost in Namibia. Kyle Johnson, Connor Gibson and Samual Nel (plus Charlie Lohman from Windhoek) were selected to represent Namibia next week in the All Africa Junior Championships at Benoni Country Club. Their team manager will be Pietie Fox.

• The third round of the Multisave Teams Medal Mania is happening on Saturday 20 April. This is the third and last leg where only one score will count per four-player team. Competitions 4, 5 and 6 will be played on 22 June, 20 July and 21 September and will require two scores from each team to count.
