Football fans celebrated the much-anticipated return of the FNB Women’s Super League, as round 1 delivered thrilling encounters across the country on Saturday.



Arrows Ladies edge Julinho Athletic

At the neutral venue Unam Stadium in Windhoek, Arrows Ladies began their season with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Julinho Athletic Ladies.

Lorraine Jossop opened the scoring with the first goal of the league season, while Talitha Aubes doubled the lead for Arrows.

Despite a strong effort, Julinho Athletic managed only one goal, courtesy of Beverly Uueziua.

Julinho Sporting FC incorporated Girls & Goals FC and Athletic Club Football Academy to form a new team for the current season.



Beauties stun African Stars Queens

At the Independence Stadium, Beauties FC secured a 1–0 victory against African Stars Queens. Lydia Shamilla’s decisive strike handed Beauties their first win of the season.

Post-match, African Stars coach Hango Jackson reflected on the defeat: “It’s the opening match of the league, and we didn’t get going like we wanted to. The girls played well, but we have a lot to learn from this match.

“Beauties scored and we couldn’t equalise, so it’s back to the drawing board."



Unam Bokkies hold reigning champions

In one of the most anticipated fixtures, reigning champions FC Ongos were held to a 1–1 draw by a spirited Unam Bokkies side.

Memory Ngonda found the net for Ongos in the first half, but Unam’s Hillary Gontes equalised in the dying moments to salvage a vital point for the students.



Goal-filled Thriller at the coast

The clash between Namib Daughters and NUST Babes at the Vineta Sports Stadium ended in an electrifying 3–3 draw.

Namib Daughters’ Precious Hambira was a standout performer, scoring twice, while teammate Melani Gawas added another. NUST Babes displayed resilience, earning a valuable point on their trip to Swakopmund.

The opening round of the FNB Women’s Super League has set the tone for an exciting season ahead. With tougher competition, skillful performances, and goals, Namibia’s top women’s football league is primed for a memorable campaign.
