The defending champions of the FNB Women’s Super League, Ongos Ladies FC, are preparing for a busy weekend as they aim for six points against some of the league’s seasoned teams.

The team is set to clash with V-Power Angels at the NFA Technical Centre on Saturday at 11:00 AM, before facing Okahandja FC on Sunday at 11:00 AM.

Coach Shama Gure mentioned that several players are nursing injuries from their previous matches and is hopeful that some of them will be fit for the weekend’s games.

“I must say that we have a couple of players nursing injuries, and there is a chance that many of them could miss the matches this weekend. However, we will not be disturbed by this because we have a squad ready to play. It is still early in the season, and these knocks are expected, but we are going into the weekend ready to get the maximum points,” Gure said.

The team was crowned FNB Women’s Super League champions after completing the season undefeated, winning 21 out of 22 games, scoring 105 goals, and conceding only 11.

The team’s goal poacher, Anna Shikusho, won the FNB Women’s Super League Top Scorer award, netting 32 goals in 18 matches.

Beauties FC finished as runners-up in the league, with their goalkeeper also winning the Golden Glove award.

“Our aim is to go all the way again this season because the team still has the desire to win the competition. We know that the challenge will always be there because teams want to beat the champions. We are, however, prepared to compete, as we always do, and we are hoping to extend our records in the competition,” Gure said.
