Okahandja United FC boss Congo Hindjou has assured fans that his team will give their all this coming season. Hindjou says the team has been preparing well ever since the league's kick-off date was announced as 29 November.The boss added that they have strengthened the squad with a few new players and are hoping the team will finish in a good position at the end of the season.
"All I can say is that Okahandja United is well-prepared and has hit the ground running for the 2024/25 season. We are pushing hard as a club to finish higher on the table and to work harder than last season. The team looks good, and the spirit is high as everyone is eager for the season to start and make an impact," said Hindjou.
Preseason
The football club has already commenced preseason matches and will be hosting some games this weekend at the Nau-Aib Stadium in Okahandja. The tournament will feature Okahandja United, Blue Boys, Orlando Pirates, and Eleven Arrows competing for bragging rights.
The first match will see Okahandja United take on Blue Boys FC at 10:30 on Saturday, followed by Orlando Pirates FC against Eleven Arrows FC at 12:30. The losing teams from these fixtures will then play for third and fourth place at 14:30, while the winners will compete in the final at 16:30.
"This tournament is just to ensure the players get enough preparation time for the season, and I’m confident it will be beneficial for all the teams involved. We invite all football-loving fans to spend their Saturday with us at the stadium and enjoy some good football. The teams look ready, and that can only mean we’re in for a great treat of local football," Hindjou added.
Those heading to the stadium to watch the matches will be required to pay an entry fee of N$20 for adults and N$10 for children, while car parking costs N$10.
Okahandja United finished the 2023/24 season in eighth position on the log with 43 points. United won 11 of their 30 matches last season, lost 10, and drew nine. However, the club is aiming for a much-improved performance this upcoming season as they look to defy the odds and challenge for trophies.
