Man City push for £50 million January transfer for 'new Mohamed Salah' to save stuttering season
FOOTBALL
Manchester City are weighing up a sensational January swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt's sought-after forward, Omar Marmoush.Marmoush, 25, is rated as one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga at present and is known to have admirers within the Premier League after racking up 20 goal contributions - 13 goals, seven assists - so far this term.
Liverpool have been previously credited with an interest in the Egypt international, who has already been dubbed as 'the next Mohamed Salah'.
But it's the Premier League champions who are pushing to sign Marmoush this month.
Pep Guardiola has already made it clear he wants Manchester City to bring in fresh blood.
Another attacker is on the Catalan coach's wishlist after Julian Alvarez was sold in the summer and the £50 million-rated Marmoush, who is capable of playing in a variety of different attacking positions, ticks plenty of boxes for the champions.
Three potential Man City transfer targets after Pep Guardiola signs new deal
Guardiola has seen his squad ravaged by injuries this term and admitted prior to a dour draw with Everton last month that Manchester City had to add to their squad in the transfer window.
“If we can, we have to add players in January, definitely,” he said. “I think even the players asked themselves. Are we going to add some players?! Please!’
”The winter (window) is not easy. We have to add some players but we have to bring players for the next three, four, five years - and that is not easy.”
