Dutch-Namibian Alders joins FC Twente on loan

Ajax and FC Twente have reached an agreement regarding the loan of Ajax full-back Gerald Alders to the Eredivisie club. The loan deal takes effect immediately and will run until the end of this season. The 19-year-old player remains under contract with Ajax until 30 June 2026.
Gerald Alders was born on 7 May 2005 in Amsterdam to a Namibian mother and Dutch father. He has been part of Ajax since 2014.
This season, he has been a key player for Jong Ajax, having made 39 official appearances for the reserves so far.
Director of Football Marijn Beuker said: "Gerald has had a strong season with Jong Ajax and recently earned his well-deserved debut in the Ajax first-team squad.
“At FC Twente, he'll gain valuable experience at Eredivisie level and have the opportunity to continue his development. We’ll be monitoring his progress closely and look forward to welcoming him back to Amsterdam this summer.”
A youth product of Sporting Martinus, Alders joined the youth academy of Ajax in 2014. Working his way up their youth sides, he was promoted to Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie in 2023.
On 28 July 2024, he signed his first professional contract with Ajax until 2026.
In January 2025, he started training with the senior Ajax team. His first inclusion in the match-day squad with Ajax in a UEFA Europa League match against FK RFS on 22 January 2025.
In October 2023, Alders was called up to the Netherlands U19s for a set of friendlies.
