CVA Beach Volleyball League matches continue today

The once-off matches are crucial as teams are pushing for dominance in the league standings.
Central Volleyball Association (CVA) Beach Volleyball League’s Round Robin matches will continue today and tomorrow at A. Shipena Secondary School in Windhoek. The league’s second season, which began on 25 January, will run until 22 February. It features 23 teams competing in the 2-a-side Men Open and 2-a-side Women Open, with 10 teams in the women's category and 13 teams in the men’s category.
Friday’s fixtures
The men’s open action kicks off today at 15:00 with Aloisius Ishitile and Tobias Johannes facing off against Makanga Len and Chibi Sitengu. The pair will return to the sand at 15:30 to take on Tumeritino Lebereki and Henry Siseho, before clashing with Willem Shikongo and Festus Shatiwa at 16:30.
Lebereki and Siseho, also playing multiple matches, will look to build momentum when they meet Shikongo and Shatiwa at 16:00, before a showdown with Teodor Thomas and Simeon Ndaxula at 17:00. Meanwhile, Len and Sitengu will be back in action at 17:30 against Matheus Mupupa and Sakeus Shaningi.
More action will follow at 18:00, as Ishitile and Johannes will set to battle Mupupa and Shaningi. Lebereki and Siseho will then return to take on the same duo at 18:30, followed by Mupupa and Shaningi wrapping up the night against Shikongo and Shatiwa at 19:00.
Saturday’s fixtures
The women's open action will kick off on Saturday at 09:00, with Rauna Shitalangaho and Albertina Matheus taking on Naemi Amunyela and Helena Itula in the opening clash.
At 09:30, Soini Shipefi and Claudia Reiter will face off against Lea Nangombe and Angel Ouxurus, followed by Amunyela and Itula returning to the sand at 10:00 to battle Grace Muheua and Himeezembi Nguede.
At 10:30, Shipefi and Reiter will go head-to-head with Helena Shingulu and Ikiuyu Victoria, while Shitalangaho and Matheus will once again take on Muheua and Nguede at 11:00.
Wrapping up the morning’s schedule, Shipefi and Reiter will play their final match of the day at 11:30 when they take on Amunyela and Itula.
Current standings
Speaking to Sport Wrap, CVA Beach Volleyball League director Thomas Shilumbu gave a brief overview of the log standings heading into the competition. He indicated that in the men’s open, Teodor Thomas and Simeon Ndaxula are currently tied for first place with 23 points, alongside Immanuel Hafenanye and Daniel Weyulu.
“Thomas and Ndaxula have a slight edge as they have won all their matches without a 0-2 loss. Tomas Shivute and Messah Kambala are in third place with 19 points. They have shown consistency with six dominant 2-0 wins,” he said.
Talking about the women’s open, Shilumbu said Tuli Amakali and Cathrine Thomas are currently leading the charge with 14 points, having won all their matches unbeaten. “Lea Nangombe and Angel Ouxurus are in second place with 11 points, having suffered just one 2-0 loss.
“Soini Shipefi and Claudia Reiter have so far displayed dominance with 9 points from three 2-0 victories, despite having played one match fewer than the log leaders. We will also have more games on Sunday from 13:00. The fixture is yet to be finalised.”
